British Indoor Long Jump Champion and Medal Holder JJ Jegede. Finalist at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games and European Championships in Zurich.
J’s biggest achievement to date was placing 4th with 8.10m PB at the European Championships in 2012. Another highlight for him was making the final of both the European Championships and Commonwealth Games in 2014. JJ’s goals are to win a major global gold medal and jump over 8.50m.
A Mentor for Sky Sports, features on major and high profile main line publications, like The Guardian, BBC Radio, BBC News, Daily Mail, Mirror, Telegraph, Sky TV and The Sun to name a few. He has worked with big brands like Mini Cooper, Holiday Inn, Vitabiotics and Wellman.
He works as a personal trainer and as a mentor for young people and splits he’s time visiting schools mentoring and motivating young students. Elite Performance Coach, Mentor, Speaker and CEO and Founder of Arise Star Academy.
Jegede grew up in Hackney as the youngest of four children. He had a rough upbringing, going through a number of evictions when his mother was not able to pay rent. He was named after a character in the television show Sons and Daughters.

In 2011, Jegede jumped over three Mini Coopers as part of an advertising campaign for the Mini London 2012 edition models. He is involved in the Metropolitan Police's Met Track scheme, as well as Sky's Living For Sport campaign. As part of this, he has done numerous school visits.

JJ with Stephen James Backley, OBE is a retired British track and field athlete
He attended Barking Abbey School. He wanted to become a professional footballer and was offered trials at Norwich and Tottenham Hotspur, but at the beginning of secondary school he was diagnosed with Osgood–Schlatter disease, which stopped him from playing.
